Leica Geosystems has announced the world's first high performance total station with a fully integrated GPS receiver-- SmartStation.

The new System 1200 Smart Station mounts a SmartTrack dual-frequency GPS eceiver directly on a TPS 1200 total staion. This allows the SmartStation to position coordinates at the touch of a key. There is no longer the need for contol points, traverses, and resections. Just set u wherever it's convenient, touch the GPS key and let the SmartAntenna do the rest. RTK determines the station position to centimeter accuracy in just a few seconds. This can be accomplished at ranges of up to 50 km from a reference station.
Significantly decrease the time required to perform:

  • Remote Area Topographic Surveys
  • Rural Area Boundary Surveys
  • Construction Site Stakeout
  • Urban Area Utilities Surveys

You have the flexibility to use SmartStation as a total station or as a RTK rover. Once the instrument is positioned, take off the SmartAntenna, put it on a pole, and use it with the RX1210 controller and GTX1230 sensor as a fully-fledged RTK rover.
